God the One and only

When the Nazarene rebbe Jeshua was asked about the greatest commandment, he indicated that God is One. He knew that his hearers believed that this meant that only the God of Abraham, the heavenly Father is God, and he did not add a new statement to it …

As an Essene Jew, Jeshua was a very devote Jew who worshipped the God of Abraham, Who was also the God of Moshe (Moses) Who declared to be the Source of Being or divine Source of life.

Exodus 6:2-4 OJB

And Elohim spoke unto Moshe, and said unto him, I am Hashem; (3) And I appeared unto Avraham, unto Yitzchak, and unto Ya’akov, as El Shaddai, but by My Shem Hashem I did not make Myself known to them. (4) And I have also established My brit (covenant) with them, to give them Eretz Kena’an, the land of their sojourning, wherein they sojourned.

Exodus 3:14-15 OJB

And Elohim said unto Moshe, Eh-heh-yeh ashair Ehheh- yeh (I AM WHO I AM); and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the Bnei Yisroel, EHHEH-YEH (I AM) hath sent me unto you. (15) And Elohim said moreover unto Moshe, Thus shalt thou say unto Bnei Yisroel: Hashem, Elohei Avoteichem, Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak, and Elohei Ya’akov, hath sent me unto you: this is Shemi l’olam, and this is My remembrance unto all generations.

This only One True God Who declared to be “I am that which I am” is the God we take as our God. We believe that He is Only One True God above all gods, and consider us to be His children and as such can speak of Him as our heavenly Father (Deuteronomy 4:39; cf. 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 17:3)

We believe human beings should be solely devoted to God, as the Shema states:

Shema Yisrael, Yehowah, Elohainoo, Yehowah aichod.

“Hear, Israel, Jehovah, our God, is one Jehovah.”

Too many do forget this important passage on which the Jews lay great stress. It is one of the four passages which they write on their phylacteries. On the word Elohim, Simeon ben Joachi says:

“Come and see the mystery of the word Elohim. There are three degrees, and each degree is by itself alone, and yet they are all one, and joined together in one, and are not divided from each other.”

As Israel had to hear that the Elohim Hashem Jehovah is The LORD our God, Who is one, the whole world should come to know that! (the Lord: Deu 4:35-36; Deu 5:6; 1Ki 18:21; 2K 19:5; 1Ch 29:10, Isa 42:8; Isa 44:6, Isa 44:8; Isa 45:5-6; Jer 10:10-11; Mar 12:29-32; Joh 17:8; 1Co 8:4-6; 1Ti 2:5)

Deuteronomy 4:35 OJB Unto thee it was showed, that thou mightest know that Hashem He is HaElohim; there is none else beside Him.

Psalms 83:18 OJB (19) Let them have da’as that Thou alone, Shimcha Hashem, art Elyon al kol HaAretz.

It is our task to let everybody know that The Most High Elohim Whose Name is יהוה {Jehovah}, is the Only One above all Who is alone the Most High over all the earth and that He has a set apart (or holy) personal name consisting of four Hebrew letters (the Tetragrammaton) YHWH, consisting of three syllables pronounced “Yai-How-Vwah” or “Jehovah”

It is That Eternal Being Who is the Maker of everything, the Lord of hosts, the Set-apart One of Yisra’el Who is our Redeemer and called the Elohim of all the earth.

Isaiah 54:5 OJB For thy Oseh (Maker) is thine ba’al (husband); Hashem Tzva’os Shmo; and thy Go’el is Kadosh Yisroel; The Elohei Kol HaAretz He is called.

This Only One True God by His speaking, bringing His Breath over all things created universe with all its beings in it (Genesis 1, cf. Exodus 20:11). He is the Absolute Sovereign over His creation. However, God’s sovereignty is not one of meticulous control. Instead, God grants a great deal of autonomy to his creatures (both human and angelic) and this explains the existence of evil.

God is infinitely set apart or holy (Isaiah 6:3) and cannot dwell among uncleanness, both ritual uncleanness and moral uncleanness.

Isaiah 6:3 OJB And one cried unto another, and said, Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, is Hashem Tzva’os; kol ha’aretz is full of His kavod.

Being an Eternal Spirit (John 4:24), He is invisible and intrinsically possesses immortality (1 Timothy 1:17, 6:16).

Being the Creator and Giver of life He interacts with His creation through His Holy Spirit (the Ruach HaKodesh or Pneuma), which is His presence and power. The Holy Spirit is very personal, but not a separate person from God Himself.

God is loving, gracious, merciful, just, truthful, and faithful (Exodus 34:6; cf. 1 John 4:8).

God desires all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4; cf. 2 Peter 3:9), and takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11). He has given the world His only begotten son and authorised him to speak and act in His Name. After that son of man, Jeshua, had put aside his own will to do the Will of his heavenly Father, God raised him to sit at His side, to have this son of man to be the mediator between Him and man.
