Messiah Jeshua
Our name “Jeshuaist” comes from the son of man to whom we look at full awe. We believe that the son of Yosef ben Dovid and Myriam or Miriam (Mary) was placed in the womb of the young woman by the Power of God. Their child born in a special way was the long-awaited Messiah who received the title Immanuel or Emmanuel (God with us) and the name Jeshua (Jesus of Nazareth), him being called “Son of God“.
Luke 1:30-35 OJB And the malach said to her, Do not have pachad (fear), Miryam, for you have found chen before Hashem. (31) And in your womb you will conceive and bear BEN [YESHAYAH 7:14] and you will call SHMO YEHOSHUA. [ZECHARYAH 6:11-12] (32) He will be gadol (great) and will be called Ben HaElyon (Son of the Most High). Adonoi Elohim will give him the kisse Dovid Aviv, (33) And he will rule over the Beis Yaakov Olam vaed, and his Malchut will never come to an end. [SHMUEL BAIS 7:16; TEHILLIM 89:3,4; YESHAYAH 9:7; YIRMEYAH 33:17; DANIEL 2:44; 7:14,27; MICHOH 4:7] (34) But Miryam said to the malach, How will this be, vibahlt (since) I do not have daas of an ish? (35) And in reply, the malach said to her, The Ruach Hakodesh will come upon you and the gevurah of HaElyon will overshadow you. Therefore, also, the one being born will be called HaKadosh (The Holy One), Ben HaElohim.
After he had grown up and started his public life the Most High, Who never tell lies, declared Jeshua to be His only–begotten son.
Luke 3:21-23 OJB And it came about while all the Am [Berit] were receiving the tevilah, and when Yehoshua also had been given the tevilah and was davening, Shomayim was opened, (22) And the Ruach Hakodesh descended in demut gashmit as a yonah upon Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach; and then came a bat kol out of Shomayim, saying, ATAH BNI AHUVI ASHER BCHA CHAFATSTI {“You are My Son, the Beloved, in You I did delight.” } (23) And Yehoshua himself was about shaloshim shanah, at the beginning of his avodas kodesh ministry, being the ben (as it was being thought of Yosef) ben Eli,
Being the Messiah means Jeshua is the anointed King of Israel, the promised son of David that is to reign over Israel and the nations in the Messianic era (2 Samuel 7:12-16, cf. Romans 1:3, Revelation 20:4, 6).
Jesus is the Son of God, meaning he was miraculously begotten by God in the womb of his mother Mary, a virgin (Luke 1:35, cf. Psalm 2:7, 2 Samuel 7:14).
Jesus lived a sinless life and, as much as a human being can, represents God to the world (John 14:9). The Messiah is the embodiment of God’s creative power and wisdom (Colossians 1:16-17, Hebrews 1:3) and is the word of God made flesh (John 1:14).
We recognize that Jesus has not yet fulfilled many of the prophecies concerning his role as king (though he is now King in the lives of his followers). However, we believe that in his first coming he primarily came as a prophet. As a prophet, he was ultimately rejected and killed (though many in Israel did repent because of his teachings).
Jeshua or Jesus the Messiah is the only man to live a completely righteous life, therefore his death was counted as atonement or a ransom for the sins of the world (Isaiah 53, cf. Genesis 3:15; Psalm 22; John 3:16).
Showing favour upon his life, God raised Jeshua from the dead to live evermore, making Jeshua the first-fruits of the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20).
Jeshua, as the Kohen Gadol or High Priest (Jesus) of the priesthood according to Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4), ascended to the heavens to present the offering of his own blood to God in the heavenly tabernacle (Hebrews 9:12) and currently makes intercession on behalf of the elect (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34).
Psalms 110:4 OJB [5] Hashem hath sworn, and will not relent, Thou [Moshiach] art a kohen l’olam al divrati Malki-Tzedek (kohen forever in respect to the order of Malki-Tzedek; [see Bereshis 14:18; note it is the kohen who makes kapporah for sin — see Leviticus 4:20; Isa 53:8).
Hebrews 9:12 OJB Not through the dahm of se’irim (goats) and of agalim (bulls) but through his own dahm (blood) [Isa 52:15] he entered the Kodesh HaKodashim (Reverend or holy place) once and for all, having secured for us the Geulah Olamim (everlasting redemption).
We understand the Kristos Jeshua (Christ Jesus) to be the second or last Adam (Romans 5:15, 19, 1 Corinthians 15:22, 45; cf. Luke 3:38). Though the first Adam sinned, causing his descendants to become a fallen creature, prone to death, Jesus, the second Adam, did not sin, causing those who identify with his death and resurrection to be given the promise of chayyei ola, non-ending or eternal life in the age to come via the resurrection.
Therefore, we put our hope in this sent one from the Most High Elohim. He is the Ben HaElohim, who now sits at the right hand of God to speak for us so that we may count on him as our mediator.
