This fighting world, Zionism and Israel #5

There are people who find that

Israel is The Jewish State, and as such is founded upon the teachings, traditions, and precepts of Judaism, the very foundation of which is War With Gentildom. Virtually every religious feast of importance – from Passover to Purim to Hanukkah–celebrates the destruction of Gentiledom. The 5 ‘books of Moses’ comprising the Torah and which itself is the beating heart of Judaism, is replete with passage after passage where the ‘Lord thy God’ is commanding his ‘chosen people’ to go into various villages, cities and homes and to slaughter everything that lives and to ‘save nothing alive that breathes’. {Israel loves wars}

Israeli Flag with/or of/ blood

Gideon Levy writes

No ‘rational explanation can be found for the sweeping, automatic and blind support in public opinion and the media that the JEWISH STATE receives whenever it goes on one of her blood binges in Gaza or wherever? {Israel loves wars}

It is wrong for people to think that those who love and look forward to “the Promised land” would totally agree with what is going on in present Israel. It is also wrong to think that those who are against what the Israeli governement is doing would be against Jews or against Judaism.

But it is also wrong to generalise and to think all Jews do want war. So we can not agree with texts which announce

All the rest – the tunnels, the National Security Council, the cabinet and the intelligence – are trifles, nothing more than efforts to distract us from the main thing. The main thing is that Israel wants war. It rejected all the alternatives, without discussing them, without interest in them, in order to fulfill its desire. {Israel loves wars}

Some say, like the Justice for Poland site

Gaza Strip. Political map: boundaries, cities. Includes locator.This is proven by the fact that committees of investigation publish almost identical reports after every war – the report on the Gaza war is almost plagiarized from the Winograd Commission (ed.n.  Israeli government-appointed commission of inquiry, chaired by retired judge Eliyahu Winograd) report after the 2006 Second Lebanon War. ‘The war was embarked on hastily and irresponsibly.’) When nothing is learned and everything is forgotten, it’s clear that something strong is pulling Israel to war. {Israel loves wars}

We do agree it is not rightful that every time Israel goes to war it receives sweeping, automatic and blind support in a lot of public opinion and media. This only can proof that not only the government and the army love war, but it is totally wrong to assume that then

all of Israel loves war. {Israel loves wars}

Graffiti on the road to Bethlehem in the West Bank stating “Ich bin ein Berliner”

At our Belgian television screen we have seen already lots of documentaries which show several Jews living in Israel who do not agree with the wall build by the Israeli governement or how the Israelite governement treat the Palestinians and Arabs.
We also have already seen several documentaries which present Arabs, Palestinians, Jews and Christians fraternising and showing their love for each other, even willing to help those in problems or those in the Gaza region or Gaza strip. We also already got to hear Jews who were imprisoned by the Israeli governement because they were considered traitors, because they helped Palestinians and people in the Gaza region.

It is wrong to ignore some of the Israeli public, press, who wonder if everything is going on kosher. Also in parliament we may find people who generally supported the war against Hezbollah but questioned how it was conducted.

We also heard about Jewish youngsters who were disgusted with what happened on the battle field, but often found themselves having no choice. Some of them felt even guilty to battle against children only in their teens. Therefore it is wrong to say

There’s nothing Israelis love more than a war against a non-army, against those who have no aerial cover, no armor and no artillery, just an army of the barefoot and tunnels, which allows Israel stories of great heroism and bereavement. Israeli bombardments of the helpless, for some reason called war, with minimal Israeli casualties and maximal Palestinian casualties – that’s the way we like our wars. {Israel loves wars}

Mideast Israel Palestinians

On television we also could see how in many cases certain Christian groups did not help at all but threw oil on the fire and helped to set up Muslims against Christians and Jews. The last decade we have seen a growing group, belonging to a movement we perhaps may call “Christian Zionism”, mostly American evangelical fundamentalists who also know that Jerusalem is going to be the capital of Israel and the capital of the chosen people of which they want to be part of. The world has to know that those missionaries who spread over the Middle East are not so much liked by Jews as well as by real followers of Christ, who do not want to know of the false trinity teaching they adhere and promote over the whole region and do as if all Christians worship their false god Jesus. Those Christian Missionaries often promote their hatred against Allah, forgetting that it is the word many may use for the title of the only One True God, Whose Holy Name is Jehovah. In Europe as in the Middle East there may be found other preachers as well though those “Christian Zionists” are the largest, most controversial and seem also to be the most destructive lobby within Christendom and Christianity. It bears primary responsibility for perpetuating tensions in the Middle East, justifying Israel’s apartheid colonialist agenda and for undermining the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

Rev Dr Stephen Sizer writes

At least one in four American Christians surveyed recently by Christianity Today magazine said that they believe it is their biblical responsibility to support the nation of Israel. This view is known as Christian Zionism. The Pew Research Center put the figure at 63 per cent among white evangelicals. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

The movement in American Protestantism that arose in the late 19th century in reaction to theological modernism, which aimed to revise traditional Christian beliefs to accommodate new developments in the natural and social sciences, especially the theory of biological evolution, strongly opposes all those Christians which do believe Jesus is the son of God and not ‘god the son‘ and do find they have the right to receive the privileged place in God’s city, where those Christians who believe Jesus is the sent one from God (and not God incarnated) look forward to be citizens too of that Holy Land. Real Christians, like the Jeshuaists, Christadelphians (or Brethren or Brothers in Christ) and other Abrahamic Faith Groups, could also be placed under Christian Zionism, because it is also their strong belief that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land and the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 were in accordance with Bible prophecy. Though those groups are bounded not by centralised organisation but by the Word of God, the Bible. Their Christian Zionism stands in opposition to that of the American evangelists whose vision

is pervasive within mainline American evangelical, charismatic and independent denominations including the Assemblies of God, Pentecostals and Southern Baptists, as well as many of the independent mega-churches. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

The Abrahamic Faith groups which believe in the restoration of God His Holy Nation and the coming Kingdom of God, in which Jesus is going to be the King of kings, are very well aware that the Nazarene Jew Jeshua (Jesus Christ) was a preacher of peace and as a pacifist never would have agreed with certain actions taken by the Israeli governement. Real followers of Jesus (as Jeshuaists) should have the belief that disputes between nations can and should be settled peacefully and as such shall have to be against any war to receive or to become inhabitant of the Holy Land.

Concerning those (mostly) American evangelical missionaries we see their Christian Zionism

is less prevalent within the historic denominations, which show a greater respect for the work of the United Nations, support for human rights, the rule of international law and empathy with the Palestinians. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

Historically we must remember that

Herzl, Theodor
Theodor Herzl founder of the political form of Zionism, a movement to establish a Jewish homeland, and writer of the pamphlet The Jewish State (1896) which proposed that the Jewish question was a political question to be settled by a world council of nations.

Proto-Christian Zionism … preceded Jewish Zionism by more than 50 years. Some of Theodore Herzl’s strongest advocates were Christian clergy. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

It is wrong to assume that all Christian Zionism

as a modern theological and political movement embraces the most extreme ideological positions of Zionism. It has become deeply detrimental to a just peace between Palestine and Israel. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

Movements like ours do not at all think we should hold wars to receive a place in the Promise Land of God. Many Abrahamic Faith groups do believe that it is God Who chooses who is going to be an inhabitant of His Kingdom and when the Holy Land shall fully become a reality. As real followers of Jeshua, Jeshuaists and Christadelphians consider themselves as brothers and sisters of Christ, going in the footsteps of Christ, which means that we refuse to participate in military action but also that we oppose every fight to get what we want or hope for. As real followers of Christ we also aim to bring people together and are willing to act as mediators in conflicts showing to both fighting parties that there are other ways out.

We do know that a third world war shall be coming but we do not place a negative

emphasis on apocalyptic events leading to the end of history rather than living Christ’s love and justice today. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

First of all we do know that the world shall not end and that the love of Christ brings forth a much greater love for all people around, showing respect for all creatures of the Most High (i.e. plants, animals and human beings). We preach love and peace and No War!

We are very suspicious of the many burgeoning Christian Zionist organizations such as the International Christian Embassy (ICEJ), Christian Friends of Israel (CFI) and Christians United for Israel (CUFI) who wield considerable influence on Capitol Hill, claiming a support base in excess of 50 million true believers.

This means there are now at least ten times as many Christian Zionists as Jewish Zionists. And their European cousins are no less active in the Zionist Hasbarafia, lobbying for Israel, attacking its critics and thwarting the peace process. The United States and Israel are often portrayed as Siamese twins, joined at the heart, sharing common historic, religious and political values. {Christian Zionism: The Heresy that Undermines Middle East Peace}

The world comes to see and hear more from those fundamentalist and Zionist evangelicals because they have much more followers and money, using lots of the media to reach as many people as they can. Often being mega-churches they can win even more attention and get more power.

Adonis diaries writes on his platform

Pastor John Hagee is one of the leaders of the Christian Zionist movement. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church, a 19,000-member evangelical church in San Antonio, Texas. His weekly programs are broadcast on 160 TV stations, 50 radio stations and eight networks into an estimated 99 million homes in 200 countries.

In 2006 he founded Christians United for Israel admitting,

“For 25 almost 26 years now, I have been pounding the evangelical community over television. The Bible is a very pro-Israel book. If a Christian admits ‘I believe the Bible,’ I can make him a pro-Israel supporter or they will have to denounce their faith. So I have the Christians over a barrel, you might say.” {Wahhabi-type Religious Heresy of Choice for Neo-cons? Christian Zionism or Extremist Evangelical Zionism?}

In March 2007, Hagee spoke at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference. He began by saying:

“The sleeping giant of Christian Zionism has awakened. There are 50 million Christians standing up and applauding the State of Israel…”

As the Jerusalem Post pointed out, his speech did not lack clarity. He went on to warn:

“It is 1938. Iran is Germany, and Ahmadinejad is the new Hitler. We must stop Iran’s nuclear threat and stand boldly with Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East… Think of our potential future together: 50 million evangelicals joining in common cause with 5 million Jewish people in America on behalf of Israel is a match made in heaven.”

Christian Zionists have shown varying degrees of enthusiasm for implementing 6 basic political convictions that arise from their ultra-literal and fundamentalist theology. {Wahhabi-type Religious Heresy of Choice for Neo-cons? Christian Zionism or Extremist Evangelical Zionism?}

For real followers of Christ Jesus there is no place for hate in their heart. As such there is also no reason to have fear or deep-seated hatred of Islam. Those who say

Christian Zionists have little or no interest in the existence of indigenous Arab Christians despite their continuity with the early church. (And the foundation of the civilization in the Near-East) {Wahhabi-type Religious Heresy of Choice for Neo-cons? Christian Zionism or Extremist Evangelical Zionism?}

show they have no knowledge of the real Christians nor about those who have a hope for Israel and for those Christians who do not speak English or do refuse to use English names and terms for their Arabic or words of their language, and as such use Allah for God, Jehovah for what Americans often use Lord, Jeshua for Jesus, etc.. Those telling the world that all Zionist Christians are Muslim haters and are lovers of all what the Israeli governement does, twist the truth.

Several Zionist Christians are also feeling with the real religious Jews who oppose the hatred of civil or secular Jews (Apikorsim) and also dare to call upon Christians in Churches on every continent to pray for the Palestinian and Israeli people, both of whom are suffering as victims of occupation and militarism. We may not forget that such Zionists also exists and that there are also many real Christians who put their hope in a greater Israel and believe that these for too long discriminative actions, are turning Palestine into impoverished ghettos surrounded by exclusive Israeli settlements.
