An atoneless religious system or a hope giving religious system

Grandpa David Ettinger with son Aaron and grandson Zac

Born late 1957 and raised in a non-practicing Jewish family in New York City borough of Brooklyn, the journalist and editor David Ettinger, writer of “Overcomers: 30 Stories of Triumph from the Bible” (2015) who from Judaism via atheism became a Christian at the age of 28, came to realise (partly) that Jesus Christ was indeed the Son of God and Saviour of the world.  He came to see that

The Bible is clear that All human beings are born in sin. In the Psalms, King David tells us:

“Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me” (Psalm 51:5).

From the Prophets, Isaiah tells us:

“We All, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way” (Isaiah 53:6). {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

Already from the Bereshith we come to know how man became the victim of his own weakness, following the wrong thoughts. all the books show us the continues struggle of man with his own thoughts and his relationship with the Creator. The books show us how man was unfaithful and ungrateful to his Divine Creator. In the New Testament, the apostle Paul tells us:

“For All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Mr . Ettinger agrees that

Because of our sin, we are separated from God.

But we should know we do not have to stay “eternity separated from Him” (John 3:36; 1 John 5:11-12) because the world has to know that from the onset the Most High Elohim provided a way out from this fate.

In the days of ancient Israel, God’s way to atone for sins was the sacrificial system. The primary requirement of this system was shed blood. From the Torah, Moses reveals to us this monumental truth:

“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life” (Leviticus 17:11). {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

Jews may consider themselves the Chosen ones from God and may hope they will be saved one day. Lots of them do not see that salvation is right in front of them, at their feet.

David Ettinger recognises

Regarding the Jewish faith and its current spiritual “condition,” the need for salvation is just as great as for all other people and individuals. Being born Jewish, or converting to it, does not mean one is “automatically saved.” No One Is Born “Automatically Saved.” {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

Today, in Israel, we may find the younger Jews seeing it is not just enough to come to live in the Holy Land. They want to know about the long awaited salvation and are more open to hear about the Gospel, than their parents.

tony books
Tony Simon handed out thousands and thousands of Bibles during his more than two decades of evangelism.

As a staff member of Zion’s Hope, a Christian ministry with a heart for the Jewish people, David Ettinger got to know Tony Simon as the boldest and most passionate missionary, a modern-day John the Baptist, he ever met. {Can’t Stop Sharing the Gospel: The Testimony of Tony Simon}

After 22 years in Israel, Tony remained just as zealous about sharing the Gospel now as he ever was but somehow has some disappointing feeling

“Many Christian groups from other countries come to Israel, but, unfortunately, they do not share the Gospel because they love Israel so much and don’t want to offend the Jews. However, they forget that Jewish people need the Gospel. Not to share the Gospel with Jewish people is to compromise the Gospel. Christians must be willing to not only pray for Israel, but to share the Gospel with the people of Israel.” . {Can’t Stop Sharing the Gospel: The Testimony of Tony Simon}

Jews like all other people should know there is hope and the Good News is that all people can share in the marvellous prospect of the God given Grace.

As human beings created in the image of God we should listen to our heavenly Maker His Words and should learn from people who went before us.

Proverbs 16:7 (TS98)
7 When a man’s ways please יהוה, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

We should know that when we walk in God’s way, nobody shall be able to object to us and it shall please the Elohim Hashem Jehovah as well. (Psalm 69:31) Making our ways pleasing to God we are one step closer to Him but also one step closer to a better life with those around us. But that is not yet enough.

However, this wonderful verse presents a principle, that being that God will for the most part give you peace with those you often are in conflict with; that He will help ease hostilities in your life if you live obediently to Him. {This Verse Can Enhance Your Life}

As fallible human beings we should come to recognise that we are a sinner who needs salvation and that only true faith in the sent one from God, Jeshua (Jesus Christ) is to remove the shackles of our sin and to bring us into the light of redemption. We can not buy ourself free, what some churches wanted their flock to believe (a few centuries ago). No indulgences shall get us free from the penalty for our sins. We are told with death we shall have paid for our sins. But the world should know that God has never left people on their own, but always is there to help them and that He has given a Helper and a 2° Adam to prepare the way for mankind to find the entrance through the small gate to the Kingdom of God.

sacrificeIn the Old Testament “economy,” salvation came through the slaying of an unblemished animal (Exodus 12:5; Leviticus 1:3; Leviticus 3:1; Leviticus 3:6). {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

knows the converted writer who further remarks

However, the sacrificial system ended in A.D. 70 when the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem. {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

Throughout the years the people of God did not have it easy and scattered from Israel and after a horrible period in their history many Jews could open their eyes in the promised Land, but had to know the animal sacrifices were never re-established.

To make up for this, the influential rabbis during the early days of Israel’s dispersion developed a philosophy of salvation by good works – “Mitzvot” in Hebrew. The problem with this, however, is that good deeds was in no way sanctioned by God as an atonement for sin. God never authorized such a system, nor ever rescinded His Absolute requirement of shed blood as the Only atonement for sin. {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

David Ettinger  believes

As it stands now, Judaism is an “atoneless” religious system. In its current practice, Judaism provides no atonement for sin. Jews who die in this “atoneless” state – and every other human being – will be separated from God for eternity. {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

It is a pity that the ex-Jew, like so many of his friends are not aware of what it really means what God said when the Nazarene man Jeshua stood in the water of the river Jordan. At his baptism by his cousin there was a voice many could hear It declaring that man from Nazareth to be God His only begotten beloved son. (Luke 3:21-23). That man from flesh and blood, sent by God, should be seen by man as the one, who was made lower than the angels for a little while,

“now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”

Goyim and Jews should come to know that we have an Advocate with the heavenly Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

1 John 2:1-2 (TS98)

1 John 2
1 My little children, I write this to you, so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Intercessor with the Father, יהושע Messiah, a righteous One. 2 And He Himself is an atoning offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world.

Jeshua, who is the Ben HaElohim (son of God) and not God himself, is the Way to God and the mediator between the Only One God and man. That Nazarene Jew is the one who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (TS98)
5 For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be witnessed in its own seasons,

That man of flesh and blood and bones tried all the time to do God His will and not his own will. He offered himself as a Lamb of God and as such no other lambs or doves are necessary, because he is the most wholly fully fledged sacrifice.

Though David Ettinger recognises

The claim here is that Jesus is the Only way to salvation.

he does not seem to belief that Jesus is a real human being who as the only begotten beloved son of God managed to proof to God and his fellow people how man, if he really wants, can follow the mitzvot of God and live a life without sin.

We love to invite David Ettinger and all those who do not see the value yet of what Jeshua has done to come to read the Bible and to explore how Jeshua or Jesus Christ is the Way to God and how he really died (and not fake his death, which he would have done when he would be God, because God can not die and man can do God nothing).

We with the above mentioned Christian writer would also invite every reader to come to  investigate and would also say

don’t you owe it to yourself to see firsthand what Jesus is all about? If you are going to reject Him, shouldn’t you at least know what it is you are rejecting? And if you are at all curious about I’ve written here, would it not make sense for you to see it for yourself? {A Challenge to My Jewish Friends}

all should come to
